Collection: ONidum

Here at ONidum,  meaning 'from Neath' we celebrate all things……well…..NEATH!

Neath fact: Our town began nearly 2000 years ago from the Roman fort, Nidum.

Founded ~AD 74 by the Romans to watch over the River Neath crossing and keep the local Silures tribe in check.

Nidum was initially built with earth and timber,  but was later rebuilt in stone ~AD 140, the remains of which,  like old gateways are still visible in Cwrt Herbert today.

Ancient history right on our doorstep!

A civilian village grew around Nidum – and well, that's how Neath was born! The Name, Neath comes straight from Nidum.
